Suzuki replaces MotoGP project leader

Suzuki has implemented change at the top of its MotoGP outfit amid a tough start to the 2017 season, appointing Shinichi Sahara as its new project leader.

Sahara replaces Satoru Terada at the helm of the Japanese manufacturer's programme effective immediately, and is at Barcelona for this weekend's Catalunya Grand Prix.
It is fourth in the manufacturers' championship after the first six races, 69 points behind third-placed Honda, with a best race result of seventh.
While it finished fourth in the standings last year, Maverick Vinales was fifth in the riders' championship at the corresponding stage of 2016, with his replacement Andrea Iannone 14th.
Sahara led development of the latest version of Suzuki's flagship GSX-R1000 road bike, and has previously worked in its racing division.
"Sahara has a lot of experience and I think his contribution will be positive," team manager Davide Brivio told Autosport.
"It is already known that sometimes Japanese factories carry out these restructurings."
