Arsenal attempt to lure Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain

The Sun are reporting that Arsenal are in the process of trying to dislodge gun striker Gonzalo Higuain from Napoli, believing they can capture his signature three years after they failed to do so when the Argentine left Real Madrid. Any move will hinge on the success of contract talks between the player and Napoli, as his contract is set to expire in 2018.
Paper Round's view: With City, United and Chelsea all moving drastically to improve themselves, Arsenal need to get a plan together for next season or it's back to fourth-place finishes. Higuain this season has been the best player in Serie A by a street and Arsenal will only pay for their timidity if they don't pursue him heavily.

Abramovich will give new Chelsea boss £130 million to sign four superstars

Whoever the new gaffer is at Chelsea, he'll have a lot of money to spend as the Sun report club owner Roman Abramovich will bankroll £130m towards squad upgrades with 'four superstars' in mind. The report says Chelsea's technical director Michael Emenalo has been scouting players in Italy, such as Arturo Vidal who played against his old club Juventus in mid-week. The Blues are also expected to ramp up their efforts to sign Everton defender John Stones.
Paper Round's view: In terms of superstars, Vidal is a safe bet if they find a way to lure him from Bayern. The continued pursuit of John Stones on the other hand, could see them paying well over the odds for someone whose best is more than a few seasons away and would be under immense pressure to perform early on with a large fee hanging over his head. Start scouting elsewhere for the John Terry replacement.

Malaga's Ignacio Camacho could be heading to Anfield in cut-price deal

The Mirror claims that Liverpool target Ignacio Camacho could be heading to Liverpool, as his cash strapped club Malaga are willing to offload him for as little as £4m, despite the £8m buyout clause. Camacho is a former Spanish youth international captain.

Paper Round's view: Camacho failed after being a youth prospect at Atletico Madrid, but then became a staple of Manuel Pellegrini's Champions League qualifying Malaga side. The club have fallen on hard times financially, and it's a good deal if Klopp can get the best out of the defensive midfielder.

Icardi rules out move from Inter Milan

The Daily Star are reporting that Manchester United target Marco Icardi will stay at the Milan club, after turning down numerous offers for his services.

Paper Round's view: United probably need a more established and big-name striker than Icardi, who is prone to drifting in and out of games. It's not the end of the world if he wants to stay in Serie A from United and perhaps Mourinho's perspective.
