Andy Halliday and Rangers not ready to ease up in the race for promotion

Back-to-back slip-ups by the Easter Road men have allowed Gers to pull clear in the race for promotion.

But Mark Warburton and his Ibrox squad are refusing to get carried away as they enter the final 10 games of the campaign.

Neither the manager of midfield protector Halliday were willing to admit they are now favourites for the flag following Hibs' defeats to Morton and Dumbarton.

On the contrary, Halliday is worried Alan Stubbs' side could respond to their recent set backs by winning all their remaining games.

The former Livingston, Middlesborough and Blackpool man has already seen the Leith side claw back an eight-point deficit earlier this season and is concerned it could happen again.

The 25-year-old told the official Rangers website: "I think Hibs are a good enough team to win every game from now until the end of the season so it is up to us to stop that.

"We have a game against them at Easter Road in April which could be important. The distance has been there before at the start of the season and they managed to claw that back.

"We have 10 games to go and we have the ability to win all 10 - if we do that then we will have won the league."

Gers are in control of their own title destiny and Govan-born Halliday insists the Light Blues are not being distracted by Hibs' troubles.

Speaking ahead of Tuesday's clash with Raith Rovers, he said: "Our mind set hasn't changed since the first game of the season; we go into games and it's all about ourselves and we try not to worry about what is happening elsewhere.

"We're in a strong position with 10 games to go but nothing is concrete yet and we still need to go into every game with the same mentality.

"Hibs are a good team, Falkirk are a good team and it has been a tight title race all the way through the season and I'm sure it will go down to the wire like it was always going to.

"We're going into tomorrow's game to try and get three points, it's as simple as that. We are not going to get carried away with ourselves, we are still in a couple of cup competitions which is healthy and nothing is won yet.

"I will talk to you at the end of April and hopefully then you can get the answers you're looking for."
